Count Dracula Meets Pince-Nez

Gary Oldman as Count Dracula wearing  prince-nez style eyeglasses. The prince-nez design is supported without the help of temples, and are held in place by pinching the bridge of the nose. The prince-nez was also worn by President Theodore Roosevelt but without cobalt blue tinted lenses.

R’N'R’ via Drinkin And Dronin

the-smiths-via-drinkin-and-dronin

One of our favorite mens wear blogs, Drinkin’ And Dronin’ featured this awesome picture of Morrissey and the rest of the Smiths relaxing back in the day.  Morrissey’s shades are sick!  They fit him perfectly, and look so smooth.

Jake knows where to get them–Here!

jake-davis-pic

I’ve written about our friend and customer Jake Davis, film maker and blogger extraordinaire before.  He recently challenged his readers to find frames similar to the one he posted here (as seen above).  We are here and ready for any such eyewear challenges you put us to. Thanks for thinking of us Jake… But next time give us something harder.

We have a lot of frames like this–from leather wrapped 1980s Ralph Lauren, to neon 1980s Anglo American, to bright red Oleg Cassinis.

Framed Artist: Salvador Dali

Although not an eyeglass wearer Salvador Dali is included as one of Silver Lining’s Framed Artists. This is due to his obsession with the human eye. Besides depicting the human eye in his paintings he used it in his set designs for Alfred Hitchcock’s movie “Spellbound” and his jewelry design “the Eye of Time”. His use of a magnifying glass suggests that maybe he did indeed need a pair of eyeglasses.

Alfred Hitchcock’s “Spellbound” 1945 dream sequence. Set design by Salvador Dali.
