New Hanuk Book featuring Antonio Azzuolo

hanukfinal3

I just discovered the blog, Contributing Editor, and it features some really amazing fashion photography.  New York phenomenon Hanuk’s photos of Antonio Azzuolo’s collection are particularly nice.

The sunglasses featured are the single bridge Rodenstock aviator, available exclusively at Silver Lining Opticians.  Antonio wears one himself!

South Park does Paris fashion week

kanyesouthpark

Fashion week pictures are definitely a guilty pleasure of mine, and one of my favorite sources, Jak and Jil Blog had some great pictures of Kanye West and his crew.  This South Park rendition of the Jak and Jill’s photo below is priceless–right down to the sunglasses.  You’ll recall our post about Taz–the guy on the left.  Congratulations to Jak and Jill!

That’s My Boy

jett-blog-001

We all remember the time we got to go to work with our dad. I brought my son Jett to work today and he was in heaven. How could he not be with Famous Ben’s Pizza on the corner and Vesuvio playground right across the street. Jett ended up selling a frame to a couple from the Netherlands. Here he is in his vintage sunglasses and mechanics jumpsuit. That’s my boy!

Framed Artist: Rico

friend-of-rodney

Rico of the Afrobots seen partying at Mr. West last Wendesday.  From Sao Paolo, Rico is a musician sponsored by Ray-Ban, and as you can see he has designed his own wayfarer with a white front and red temples.   Check out A Coterie, a great NY party blog featuring a ridiculous number of bespectacled people out and about.

Framed Artists

Andy Warhol and Keith Haring  both wearing eyeglass styles that look suspiciously like some vintage Anglo American frames that we just received. Come discover the downtown artist in you at Silver Lining. Just take the C or E train to the Spring street station (pictured below).

Lego Minifigs Losing Eyes at Alarming Pace

legos

PSFK posted this visual history of the Lego mini-figurine.  Lego started producing these in 1978, and as a child born in 1979, I can say that I really loved these guys.  I had a popcorn tin full of Lego’s. I’m not talking about the Lego’s of today where you build what the instructions on the box say, but the real Lego’s–no instructions, no plans, just you and your imagination running wild all day–or at least until mom calls you down for dinner.

What caught my attention today is the number of minifigs with eye problems.  These guys lose eyes at an alarming rate!  Do you see the number of eye patches here?  Only one guy is wearing sunglasses, a few are wearing monocles, but where are all the glasses?!  If you lose one eye you should at least protect the other with a polycarbonate lenses.  And for all the kids playing with their lego buddies but none of them wear glasses…What is this telling the children of today?  Demand a lego figuring in glasses I say!

Learn from your Lego minfigs–get your eyes checked regularly!
