Skateboard pioneer & artist Mark Gonzales stopped by to pull some glasses for his upcoming cover story for Hobo magazine. Growing up a surf/skate rat, to me the “Gonz” is a legend. I used to have an amazing photo sequence of him doing an ollie across an empty swimming pool. Although I couldn’t find it, I did find this great shot of him that captures all that style. Thanks Mark for a fun visit.
Don’t believe us? Just ask the vintage gurus at New York’s Silver Lining Opticians, where Kanye West, Jay-Z, Dustin Hoffman, Daniel Day Lewis, and YSL’s Stefano Pilati all buy their shades. “The quality and craftmanship remain unmatched by today’s factories,” says co-owner Jordan Silver. The quality is so good that he and partner Erik Sacher just made one of their biggest buys to date, totaling some fifty pairs of “unused perfect condition pre-Luxottica Persols” from a seller in Italy. “I love this purchase because they came with a bunch of original stickers and hangtags in Italian.” So do we: Check out the full article and tons of great vintage Persols at Esquire.
This is Mrs. Pipitone before her son Larry got involved.
And Mrs. Pipitone after putting on Silver Lining Opticians house brand model 409 in matte tortoise. I say 10 years younger at least!
Consequence wearing a vintage pair of Terri Brogan — his choice for the evening.
We’re big fans of Consequence here at Silver Lining. He chose to do a magazine shoot at our shop for the upcoming release of Juicy Magazine, an XXL production.
Cons’ new album Movies on Demand is amazing. Check it all out at his site.
Had a ton of fun taking pictures yesterday of all the people that visit the shop. Today our good friend Pep of Frequency Revolution rolled through “a day late and a dollar short” is what they say, but he was wearing a vintage Boeing Carrera. What more can I say?
Beautiful & cool Jade Harwood our neighbor from Wool & the Gang: SLV x OC aviator. Hope you enjoyed a glimpse of a day at Silver Lining.
Late afternoon sunlight & amazing style. Check out fashion designer Naoki Toyama wearing his vintage Christian Dior with prescription.
