Why be seen in the Luxottica Clubmaster from China when you can get your hands on one of these authentic Bausch & Lomb Ray-Ban women’s combination frames.

Framed photographer and eyeglass wearer Herb Ritts is best known for his black & white photos of celebrities such as Madonna, Michael Jackson, and Cindy Crawford. My favorite shot understandably is of author William Burroughs wearing an amazing pair of glasses. Watch for William on an upcoming Framed Artist profile.

Stylist, friend, and dope blooger. Check it out evidentfuture.

The Jackson Five on the Victory Tour
At age 5 my parents took me in to see Michael Jackson and his brothers on tour in 1984. I was a Michael fanatic. I had gloves, even glove charms. I was so excited I bought and still have the Life magazine which featured the image above and the concert program from the tour. I’ve treasured these items and they still remain in my old room in Denver. The only problem was I slept through half the concert because it was like midnight and I was 5! Michael had great style inlcuding his eyewear.

It seems our store has become rather infamous. When we rolled up to the Persol Icognito event at the Whitney Museum (without invitations) we were graciously ushered in by Luxottica execs after we identified ourselves as Silver Lining. This was a great compliment since we do not buy any products from Luxottica. Vanity Fair chose this as one of their top 3 parties, and I would agree. Especially memorable was enjoying the company of Lucy Liu during Lou Reed’s intimate performance.
Erik and I had a great time last night at the Whitney Museum for the launch of the Persol Incognito exhibition. Lou Reed performed for a very small crowd and included some of my favorite songs from way back. Lou wasn’t wearing Persols–he’s still sporting his own brand called Lou’s View’s (which by the way I’d love to get my hands on).
Though we only sell vintage Persols and we don’t buy from Luxottica, North American V.P Pierre Fay still appreciated our dedication to the brand when he learned of our collection and saw my Persol ink.

Sailor Jerry aka.Norman K. Collins the pioneer of traditional American tattoo design wore some pretty amazing eyeglasses. Tomorrow night is the screening in Tribeca of the Sailor Jerry documentary by Hori Smoku. If you got the ink we got the glasses.

Colors in Optics has re released their namesake collection made famous by Richard Gere in American Gigolo in 1980.
Silver Lining Opticians carries the full line of Colors in Optics, just bring your own Armani suit.

Congratulations to Alex who recently showed at Art Basel 2009. Check out his work here. I knew we’d be friends as soon as I learned he likes vintage Persol almost as much as I do.

The Insider profiles emerging tastemakers in the fields of fashion, design, food, travel and the arts. Here, the artist and designer Alejandro Cardenas shares his essentials. Cardenas is the art director at Proenza Schouler, where he also designs the prints and eyewear. Aside from his 9-to-5, Cardenas is represented by James Fuentes Gallery (he had a solo show there, “Arctic Cross,” in October). A new exhibit of his drawings will be shown as part of LISTE: The Young Art Fair in Basel from June 9 to 14.
Name: Alejandro Cardenas
Age: 31
Occupation: Artist and designer
Home base: Dumbo, Brooklyn
Retail standby: Polo, A.P.C., J. Crew and Silver Lining Opticians for all things eyewear-related. I know: not at all what you’d expect from a young man working in the arts in New York.
