The Look of Love

After recently discovering the virtues of a lightly tinted purple lens for eyeglasses, I came upon this great photo of Isaac Hayes who obviously knew already how cool it looks. The light purple tint also is very comforting to look through. Come try a little tint in your next pair of eyeglasses. At Silver Lining you get “The Look of Love” never the “Shaft”

Using glasses to prove a point

We’ve discussed Kanye’s blog before.  Its great, and today it made us aware of yet another great blog, Sea of Shoes.  This young woman (a 16 year old from Texas) has quite the eye for fashion, and somehow a way to obtain some pretty amazing pieces including glasses.

I’m sure most people who receive a shout out from Kanye wonder if he himself is writing the blog, but Sea of Shoes came up with a way to verify his readership through the creative use of mirrored sunglasses.  Good work!

The Only Color Blind Movie Ever Made

Most people have never seen Francis Ford Coppola’s “Rumble Fish” (1983) one of the coolest movies of all time. The movie was shot in black & white because Mickey Rourke’s character the Motorcycle Boy is color blind.  Matt Dylan plays Rusty James (the motorcycle boy’s younger brother) who is always followed around by his childhood friend who wears a cool pair of eyeglasses.

The Other Elvis of Eyewear

We always talk about Elvis Presley in the blog, but today we honor Elvis Costello the other Elvis worthy of “Eyeglass Icon” status. He wore the heavy black frame long before it became so fashionable. Elvis Costello’s album covers are some of the greatest eyeglass albums ever. Come be the Elvis you want to be at Silver Lining.

Less than Zero

james-spader

I can’t believe that last night was the first time I’ve ever seen Less Than Zero.  What a great 80s movie.  And the sunglasses–awesome.  James Spader playing the drug dealer / pimp lounging in his hot tub with a pair of Street Neat Ray-Ban Wafarers in Blue.  Good choice James.  Any insights on the black pair that Robert Downey Jr. wore?  Hit us up!

Eyeglass Icon: Stan Lee

Stan Lee is the co-creator of Spider-Man, the Fantastic Four, Iron Man, Thor, the Hulk, and many other comic book superheros. Mr. Lee was also responsible for expanding Marvel comics from a small publishing house to a multimedia corporation. It’s obvious that creative vision takes cool eyeglasses.

Are you wearing sunglasses inside, Mrs. Secretary?

hillary-2

Secretary of State Clinton back in the day.  This shape is actually really fashionable now.  I’m just curious how she pulled this tint indoors in Washington in the 1990s.
