Vintage Gucci in our Online Store
We just recently put up a few vintage Gucci styles that are sure to please. My favorite is the grey aviator below.

Long before Arnold tried to bust this look in “The Terminator”, Clint Eastwood made it his own as Dirty Harry in “Magnum Force” (1973). The B&L Ray Ban Balorama is a lesser known, but beautiful iconic piece made by Bausch & Lomb (the original maker of Ray Ban). As you can see they look great with a suit or a leather jacket. We stock a few combinations of this frame in case you want to “go ahead, and make your day”.

Sometimes even we can admit an inexpensive pair of shades can go a long way to completing a look. On the day she visited the shop, Nophar was the perfect illustration of this.
She recently sent us the piece she wrote featuring our store. I’m pretty sure its saying we’re great and stuff like that…

Yoko Ono has been a sunglasses icon for some time. We love the Richard Bernstein Portrait of her wearing the Porsche Design shield which was used for the Interview magazine cover (1985) . I noticed that in recent paparazzi photos she seems to have gotten in the habit of wearing her sunglasses down on the bridge of her nose. This makes any great pair of glasses look like half eye readers. “Oh no” Yoko that’s not a good look. That is unless your the big bad wolf pretending to be Grandma. Come on by Silver Lining we have the original Porsche Design shields and the Interview Magazine in our collection. We can also adjust your glasses to stay up on your nose.

Shipley & Halmos was definitely our favorite collaborations to date. Their presentation at Milk Studios featured videos exploring different dichotomies presented in different sizes against each wall with the exclusion of one wall which featured racks of the clothing. Here are some of the images that featured our glasses.

One of the most frequent questions at the shop when we take out the pupilometer, is “what does that thing do?” Whenever we make prescription lenses for anybody we always use a pupilometer to measure their PD. PD stands for pupil distance, and the measurement is used to center the lenses correctly for the best vision. We love to joke that the pupilometer is a mind reading device, but don’t worry your just getting a New York Pupil Distance measurement from Silver Lining.

In the last post about “The Terry” I talked about Anti Reflection coatings (AR), but to be fair to the customer I will say that AR lenses tend to get greasy which means you have to clean them more frequently. The advantages to having AR on your lenses far outweigh the minor inconvenience of having to clean your glasses once a day. We recommend using a lens cleaning spray formulated for AR coated lenses to avoid “The Greasy Bear”. I know, I know, Brandon isn’t wearing any eyeglasses, but could you imagine his lenses if he did?
Our three season strong collaboration with Band of Outsiders made the home page of men.style.com today.

A week after their visit to our shop, Kanye and Amber seem satisfied with their purchases. We see them both in vintage pieces purchased at Silver Lining. On Kanye we see the Alitalia Classic 300, a frame designed and made in 1984 for the Italian Olympic team.
On Amber we see the iconic GFF frame that suits her beautifully.

Terry Richardson almost as famous for his aviator eyeglasses as he is for his sexual exploits never appears to have an Anti-Reflection coating on any of his eyeglasses. Anti-Reflection (AR) enhances light transmission making the lens work and look better. We would love for Terry to come have a pair of eyeglasses made with AR so he can take it to the next level. We can help you too if your rocking “The Terry”.
