Black & Tort Friday
In anticipation of the holidays & flex spending we have restocked the shop with new designs, and some old favorites. Pictured above is just one of the beautiful new styles from a company that has been making frames since 1881.

We were asked to prepare a tray of some of our most valuable and rare pieces for Rihanna’s big week. Mariel and Rob are really stepping up Rihanna’s entire look. We expect to see Rihanna continuing to pop up in some amazing never before seen vintage pieces over the next few days.

Just sent a pair of the coveted Notorious B.I.G. vintage Versace sunglasses to the set of the upcoming Coogi ad campaign featuring Jadakiss. A tribute to B.I.G. the campaign is to be featured all over the city. Go get your Coogi and visit us to complete the look.
Check out Stylist June Ambrose’s Tweet from last nights American Music Awards in regard to her client Jay-Z’s win and choice in sunglasses:
This further confirms the supremacy of vintage sunglasses as being the highest quality product available in the current marketplace. We congratulate Jay on his win and June on a great job on his look.
Thanks to all our friends at Refinery29. If you don’t live in NY or aren’t planning on visiting soon, some of our vintage merchandise is available for purchase online at Refinery29shops.com. One of my favorite frames that we offer through their shopping site is the vintage Carrera ‘wayfarer’.

Eyecare Business magazine had interviewed us awhile ago. I had been checking every month to see when they would run it, and lo and behold they decided to run it in the same month as 20/20 magazines profile. I think this is a first ever for a shop to be featured in the top 2 optical trade magazines in the same month. Both articles are great, and different enough to offer a better understanding as to who we are. We have been receiving phone calls and emails from all different people from within the industry. Thanks to both publications for the great press.

We have been very fortunate to get amazing press and celebrity clients in our first two years of business, but very special to me is the recent feature in 20/20 magazine about our shop. 20/20 magazine is an eyeglass trade magazine known by people primarily within the eye care profession. As a licensed Optician it is a benchmark of success to be considered a pioneer within the industry. Although the title of the article is “Golden Oldies” (because of our focus on vintage sunglasses) Jordan and I are probably the youngest owner/designers to emerge in several years. Most of the well known independent high end shops were started in the 90’s. Now a lot of those pioneers have sold their businesses to corporate entities who have watered down the product, or have simply lost touch with the consumer because of outdated business models. Maybe one day we will sell our business for millions (we hope), but for now you can be confident you are getting the true essence of the profession; service, style, and the most technologically advanced lenses available.

Yves Saint Laurent designer Stefano Pilati is one of the best-dressed men in the world. Recently photographed by Olivier Zahm for a feature in Purple Fashion magazine we couldn’t help noticing the shots of him wearing one of the eyeglasses he got from us. The frame featured is from one of the new independent brands that we carry Vue dc. You know this is a hot frame if it’s worn by Stefano Pilati. Just another example of a designer that doesn’t wear the licensed eyeglasses made for the major fashion brands. If you want glasses that reflect your personal style come visit us.
