Alex has been a long time client of Silver Lining, and we recently pressured him into letting us photograph his new frame search process. He counts Playboy (pictured above) and Paola Belle among his favorites.
This time he ended up going with a one of a kind vintage Gucci aviator made of Titanium and painted lavender.
And after he put Transition lenses in them here’s the final product…
Among other things, Alex is half of the art and performance group Skote.
Famed French actor Alain Delon was one of the first celebrities to globally brand his name with a series of products ranging from perfume, wristwatches, cigarettes, and of course sunglasses. Delon’s sunglasses brand became particularly popular in Hong Kong after actor Chow Yun Fat wore them in “A Better Tomorrow” (1986). Delon even wrote a letter to Chow thanking him for helping the sunglasses sell out in the region. Being one of the most famous actors in France has inspired a website Everyone Sees the World through the Eyes of Alain Delon, which features a picture a day of someone wearing his brand of sunglasses, and sometimes wearing only that.
I’ve never known Jordan to be much of a hat wearer, even in frigid temperatures. What a surprise this morning to find him wearing a Russian army style hat. Turns out it’s a Christmas gift from Jay-Z’s stylist team for all the hard work over the years. What makes this hat so special? It just happens to be the hat worn by Jay-Z in the “Empire State of Mind” video. I guess that makes Silver Lining the new Sinatra of the eyewear game, and since we made it here, we can make it anywhere. New York, New York baby.
The holiday movie classic “A Christmas Story” features the spectacle wearing 9-year-old Ralphie Parker. Poor Ralphie all he wants for Christmas is an official Red Ryder carbine action 200-shot BB gun, but he is constantly warned by his parents, teacher, and even Santa that he will shoot his eye out. Although this is sound advice you don’t want to disappoint a child on Christmas morning. This is why all eyewear made for children at Silver Lining are fitted with Polycarbonate lenses. Merry Christmas Ralphie.
Our good friend, Jake Davis, brought in LA blogger Nick who’s blog we’ve long followed, A Time to Get, and he took some great shots of our shop and gave us some love. Come visit anytime!
I have been looking forever for a photo of a personal hero of mine Muhammad Ali wearing glasses. Imagine my surprise when I was catching up on one of my favorite blogs the impossible cool to find the elusive photo. This just further confirms how truly cool the impossible cool is.
