Today we were visited by Natasha Cerda. She had recently been photographed for “Inverted Beauty-the Freaks of Nature x LV the stylist” wearing Maison Martin Margiela sunglasses. Those particular Margiela’s feature a very unique bridge design that sits lower down on the nose. Natasha was surprised to find a similar bridge design on a pair of vintage Courreges. We got to work with Wil.i.am for the second time this week.  He always has amazing eyewear.  This time he picked up some Mikli, Alitalia, and Paloma Picasso.  While checking the blogs to see if he’s worn the new pieces yet, I discovered that he was wearing my favorite frame yesterday.  The Persol 6201 is, in my opinion the best frame.  I haven’t taken my pair off my face since putting my rx into it (and I never wear the same frame for very long).

Famed fashion photographer and dedicated vintage Persol man Mario Sorrenti discovers the extremely rare “third eye” model Silhouette Futura. In many cultures the third eye (also known as the inner eye) represents enlightenment and knowledge. Mario felt so enlightened that he asked to use them in an upcoming photo shoot.

Had a “Charlie Murphy’s Real Hollywood Story” moment yesterday. Started out almost not opening the shop due to the snow storm. After a painful commute, and low expectations for excitement, I ended up spending the afternoon with Dustin Hoffman and his family who were out shopping, and decided to take refuge from the storm at Silver Lining. His very charming daughter Rebecca ended up with the Henri, and I ended up with my first “Silver Lining’s Real Hollywood Story”.

When do you think you need your sunglasses more on a sandy beach or in the snow? Well you might be surprised to discover that the answer is in the snow. Fresh snow reflects about 80% of the sun’s UV radiation compared to a dry sandy beach (15%). Unprotected exposure to UV reflection from snow can cause snow blindness. So although sunglasses are a must for the beach think of their necessity when it’s snowing.

For our second season working with Timo et al, we were happy to provide dark gray and black sunglasses (like the Guy Laroche pictured above) for the presentation and upcoming short film.
